Italian Pewter Tableware & Drinkware
Our pewter tableware and drinkware items adapt easily to every table – whether refined and elegant, or rustic – for a pleasant effect that is both contemporary and antique at the same time. Our collection of pewter tableware includes dishware, dinnerware, table accessories, drinkware, wine and dessert items. You will be seduced by the charming blend of pewter and ceramic, and by the irresistible contrast between the understated colour of pewter and the transparency of crystal and glass. You will seldom find a more complete and varied collection of pewter dishes than ours; each dish is finished with the utmost care and precision, and this makes them unmistakable. Each of the pewter tableware items in our collection is made entirely by hand by our pewter artisans, and stamped with the GT brand name, which is our guarantee of both high quality alloy and excellent finish. In keeping with the best tradition of Italian craftsmanship, each item has been devised by us and gradually developed through the production process, from casting to finishing, exclusively within our workshop. This, jointly with ongoing quality control, contributes to make pure design and uniformity one of the distinctive features of our collection.
FOOD USE AND CLEANING: The alloy we use for casting each object is tin, bonded with antimony and copper. The Italian pewter we use meets all EU and US requirements for food safety. We know there is some psychological resistance at the thought of eating food directly from pewter; yet for more than six hundred years pewter has been used on tables throughout Europe, and this is something that everyone should experience. Modern pewter is non-toxic and therefore a perfect material for contact with food and drink. Pewter has a very low melting point, therefore should never be placed in the oven, microwave or exposed to naked flames. As with all items that are to be used in contact with food, our pewter tableware and drinkware items need to be washed thoroughly before first use. It is also advisable that the more delicate items, such as those made from pewter and glass or crystal, should be washed by hand in lukewarm water. If you live in an area with soft water, pewter and steel cutlery can be washed in the dishwasher.
