Description
When reading and writing were not within everyone’s reach and books had great value, bookstands were used not only to make reading more comfortable and easier, but also to increase the value of the book that rested on them. The pewter book stand that we have created, inspired by an antique Spanish original, enhances both the furniture on which it is placed, as well as the book that rests upon it. It has the initials “H.M.F.” engraved into it, and the date “1765”, taking a cue from the antique originals that were often personalized with the initials of their owners. If you have a love of books and of reading, a fine pewter book stand would be a fine addition to your home. In keeping with the best tradition of Italian craftsmanship, our pewter bookstands are cast, turned, soldered and finished exclusively by hand in our workshop.
