Description
A small candle holder with handle, which is also called a “bugia” in Italian. Some believe that the name “bugia”, which means “lie”, was given to candleholders because they hid the end part of the candle and therefore told a lie by not showing that the candle was used up. However the term ‘bugia’ actually derives from the name of the African town of Bidgiaya, which was then Italianised to Bugia, and which supplied most of the wax used for making candles. This charming pewter candle holder, with a simple perforated Gothic decoration on the body, blends with the furnishings of modern houses with simplicity and discretion, and with a charm that is timeless.
